Friday Finds

Friday Finds (29 May)

Friday Finds, is a collection of recommended reads, resources and creative projects from the web. Are you the owner of an online platform or engaged in a creative project that touches on topics of life, faith and culture? Please get in touch. I would love to hear about it!

1. Art Feels (Ekstasis Magazine)

Musician and poet, Strahan Coleman writes: “A good song shows rather than tells…but we’ve spent the better part of a few centuries focusing on the telling. Maybe that’s what we needed in the Modern age, but if the Kingdom of Heaven is to flourish in a world disarmed by post-truths, then maybe we need to help humanity feel again. I’m not just talking about emotions; I’m talking about hope, the imagination, the beauty and the mystery of God, His untellable God-ness.”

2. How Can We Sing When It Hurts? | Interview With Dami Im

In this episode of The Third Space, singer and songwriter Dami Im shares the impact of God’s grace in her life and how she finds comfort, peace and purpose.

3. Which Words Matter More?

A helpful reminder for those with writer’s block.

Cassie Watson writes“I’ve been discouraged over the past few months about how hard I’ve found it to write…I’m getting a new perspective. I haven’t written less during this pandemic, I’ve just been writing in a different way. And that’s good. What’s worth more in God’s sight—a carefully edited post on my blog, or the unfiltered record of what he has been doing in my life?”

4. GCD Writers’ Guild

I am a member of the GCD Writers’ Guild which exists to cultivate writers that make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus. I have enjoyed connecting with other writers, learning from seasoned authors, participating in writing challenges, and inviting feedback to sharpen my craft. If you’re keen to grow as a gospel writer please join us at: writers.gcdiscipleship.com.

5. American Gospel: Christ Alone (Available on Netflix)

I didn’t think that a two hour documentary that preaches Christ and the gospel of grace would ever make it onto Netflix…but now it has! This doco inspired my awe of Christ and empowered me to defend biblical truths. The doco features Bryan Chapell, Jackie Hill Perry, Matt Chandler, Trevin Wax and more.

6. The Hymn of A Saviour

Produced by Emu Music, this song is a beautiful anthem that makes me reflect on God’s power and goodness from Genesis through to Revelation. This song is featured on my Hymns of Hope Spotify playlist.
