Friday Finds

Friday Finds (22 May)

I’m pleased to kick off Friday Finds, a brand new initiative where I will share recommended reads, resources and creative projects from the web. Are you the owner of an online platform or engaged in a creative project that touches on topics of life, faith and culture? Please get in touch. I would love to hear about it!

Here are my Friday Finds for this week:

1. Ravi Zacharias, Now With Jesus

This week, international apologist, Ravi Zacharias, passed away from a brief battle with cancer. His unwavering love for Jesus and apologetics has been an inspiration to many.

His daughter Sarah Davis writes: “Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19)—seven words that changed the trajectory of Ravi Zacharias’s life some 57 years ago. It is a verse etched on his grandmother’s grave stone and will be etched on his too. Today my beautiful father is more alive than he has ever been. We thank God for him and recommit our lives to sharing this truth with all who will hear, until He calls us to our eternal home.”

2. The Greater Story Episode 12 – The Last Dance (feat. Joel Deacon)

This week, Mikey and I released episode twelve of The Greater Story featuring our special guest, Joel Deacon. In this episode, we discuss how the Netflix docoseries about Michael Jordan and his basketball career points us to the greater story of the gospel. We discuss the themes of glory, garbage, leadership and transformation.

3. Saving face and the secrets it hides (Shoes Off Podcast)

In this episode of Shoes Off, Asian Australian freelance writer, Shona Yang, breaks the silence and addresses the topic of ‘saving face’. She shares some of the real consequences of saving face and suggests ways in which people can find healing. Tigger warning: depression, suicide and sexual harassment.

4. A Checklist For Your Fears & Anxieties

In these unsettling times, Dr. Ed Welch helps us to remember six beautiful and comforting truths from God’s word about fear and anxiety.

5. Paint A Better Picture

Chris Thomas encourages preaches and writers to paint better pictures: “Oh, that we would see a new generation who would preach like a painter, writers who would wield words like a brush painting glory, teachers who point to awe.”

6Ancient of Days by CityAlight

My blog post this week, ‘Discovering Eternity‘, was inspired by the lyrics of ‘Ancient of Days’ by CityAlight which is available on my Hymns of Hope Spotify Playlist.
