1. Meditation, prayer, perspective: How faith is helping some through the struggles of coronavirus

ABC Religion and Ethics reporter, Siobhan Hegarty, shares some of the positive effects of religion during COVID-19 and isolation. Representing Christianity is Shu Xian Leong who joined a university Christian group when she moved from Singapore to Sydney.

2. Best Songs of 2020

Curated by TGC Arts & Culture Editor, Brett McCracken, here’s a Spotify playlist of best songs released in 2020 featuring Antoine Bradford, Frank Ocean, Kinna Grannis, Mac Miller, Poor Bishop Hooper, SZA and more.

3. Strengthening Your Marriage Podcast – Episode 4 – Restorative Love

This podcast is hosted by Aussie couple Jeremy and Hayley from The Joshua Tree Church. In episode 4, they put forward God’s pattern of restorative love as a pattern for marriage and compare biblical love to our culture’s definition of love.

4. The High Stakes of a Hard Heart

I needed this reminder. Jen Oshman warns against a hard heart while empowering us to remain soft: Keeping a soft heart requires keeping in step with the Spirit…It means choosing his way—not our own—even when it’s hard, doesn’t feel right, and hurts.

5. How to Pray When Your Heart Feels Cold

Glenna Marshall gently instructs cold and apathetic hearts to move forward with prayer: The cure for praying with a cold, apathetic heart is prayer itself. We pray for God to help us obey, to persevere, to abandon sins that entangle and distract, and to stir our affections for Christ anew.

6. Freedom Writers (On Netflix)

This moving movie is based on the book The Freedom Writers Diary by teacher Erin Gruwell and her class of troubled students from Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in California. The title of the movie and book is a play on “Freedom Riders” civil rights activists.

7. To Live is Christ – Sovereign Grace

These wonderful lyrics have been humming in my head all week. This song is part of my Hymns of Hope Spotify playlist.
