Friday Finds

Friday Finds (27 August)

I’m pleased to share my recommended reads and resources for this week!

1. It Is Not Well With My Soul

Yana Conor explains how God’s justice is her source of comfort when things are NOT well with her soul. She writes: “It is not well with his soul either. This is why he came, and this is why he will come again.”

2. Abide With Me

Cass Watson reflects on the death of a loved one and how God’s presence has been her source of comfort and love in isolation.

3. The Pasture

Zach Barnhart shares a short but poignant reflection on green pastures. Using imagery from Psalm 23, he concludes that “no pasture is green without Him.”

4. The Real Reason We Don’t Practice Spiritual Disciplines

Glenna Marshall writes: The real reason we don’t practice spiritual disciplines regularly is that we have too many reasons. And our reasons are excuses, a long litany of things we choose before we choose Christ.

5. False Rest

Chris Thomas shares a poem describing false rest. I loved these lines:
Distraction it seems dresses as rest
It offers much but delivers less

6. In the Absence of Ecstasy

Rachel Seo shares her testimony on Ekstasis Magazine. In her story, she describes how the fear of hell, the pursuit of ecstasy, and wholeness of God’s grace led her to have faith in Christ.

7. Restoration – Lecrae

I’m enjoying the lyrics of Lecrae’s new album, “Restoration”. You can listen to the album here
